Summer Reading

Reading Rockets has a nice resource for parents, teachers and librarians titled Summer Reading. Take a look at the resources and tips the site provides to “prevent the summer slide.”

Resources for parents can be found here.

Heading to the beach this summer? Here is a great list of children’s Books for the Beach!

I just got back from the beach where I spent my afternoons reading Eat, Pray, Love and The Unbearable Lightness of Being overlooking the San Juan sand!

Cheers to great summer reads!

    Hi Anna,
I just discovered your wonderful blog, and I’m pleased to see that you included this link to the Reading Rockets summer reading section in May.

This month, we introduced a set of free theme-based Family Literacy Bags for kids in K-1 — a wonderful set of activities centered around fiction and nonfiction books.

I’d love to see Reading Rockets and our blog, Sound It Out, added to your blogrolls.

I’d be happy to include Literacy Is Priceless in ours.

Thanks for great work that you are doing on behalf of all young readers.

    Director, Reading Rockets

    Thanks Tina!

I really enjoy the Sound It Out blog, especially the latest post, “How running a reading program is like running a campaign.”

I’ve added Reading Rockets and Sound It Out to our resource links on the sidebar of LIP! Feel free to link to Literacy is Priceless!
